Professor Kabir has co-authored an important book that addresses this issue in many ways. Higher education in Bangladesh has gone through a significant neoliberal transition since the 1990s. Many affluent parents and students opt for private universities over public institutions for various reasons. However, we need to critically understand the market-driven approach to higher education because it has profound socio-economic and political-cultural implications.
